JOB DESCRIPTION
General
Manager the sales department by
Utilizing face-to-face contact with salespeople
Keep current with departmental data
Financial
Inventory
Maximize sales and profits
Remain within the departments Budget
Maintain the highest level of customer satisfaction
Participate in the development of Annual budgets
PLAN, ORGANISE, DIRECT AND CONTROL
Each month establish goals for each sales person
Establish overall department monthly objectives
Provide a written plan of action on monthly basis
Achieve sales forecast
Monitor and counsel each salespersons progress
Understand financial data for department
MAINTAIN INVENTORY CONTROL
Work closely with OEM reps
Order units and maintain working knowledge of ordering processes and procedures
Walk inventory daily
Advise service of units to be PDI
Coordinate each units delivery
Maximize unit value by ensuring units are clean
COACH
Sit down with salespeople every day.
Hold weekly training meetings
Sit down with F&I every day to review deals
Review logs daily and spot opportunities
Encourage salespeople to make appointments
Check any uncompleted deals for followup
SUPERVISE SHOWROOM
Ensure that customers are flowing through the system
Monitor each deals progress
HIRE AND TRAIN
You are expected to be involved in hiring and training and retraining staff
Recruit candidates
Always look and attract hightest quality
Discover training needs individually and group and provide it
DEALERSHIP STANDARDS
Ensure that
Salespeople anre on time and planning their days
Know where your people are all day
Professional standards are maintained
Supervise the way customers are treated, greeted etc.
ASSIST IN SELLING OPERATION
Help develop advertising
Help devise promotional campaigns
Give recognition
Design special incentive programs for sales
Create spiffs and contest
Assist in closing deals
Make appraisals of used product – purchase and trade
Know cost of every unit in stock
Recommend cost averaging when needed for inventory valuation
HANDLE COMPLAINTS
CONDUCT SALES MEETING
MAINTAIN SELF DEVELOPMENT
Read latest books
Go to conventions and training classes
Prepare yourself for expanded duties.
MISCELLANEOUS
Know the OEM programs
Keep current on competition products and competing dealers
Work closely with local rideing clubs to keep strong relationships
Coordinate special sale events ( product fairs etc.)
Research and find new promotional ideas
Keep objectives out there on a daily basis.
Coordinate cooperation with F&I and sales.
